FairUse Wizard 2.9 (Full, not Light Edition) Easily create movies that will play on your standalone player with the DivX and XviD codecs Use cutting edge technology with new codecs like the well-known H264, XviD, or the ffVFW codec suite. Store several movies on a single DVD Protect your expensive DVD collection by letting the children use a backup copy while the original discs stay in a safe place Encode tens of episodes of your favourite shows in only a few mouse click Let the wizard be your guide at every step of the conversion process. Encode up to two audio tracks so you can chose between original and dubbed version at playback (maximum number of audio track may vary depending on the selected encoding profile) Preview subtitles on the preview screen during the encoding setup Changelog: Fixed: Corrected some corrupted discs handling Fixed the audio encoding error that occured with AAC-based profiles Fixed the codec error that occured at the first run Fixed a potential hang that could occur right before encoding begins Fixed IDX/SUB files not taking into account the default project folder Fixed IDX/SUB files not taking into account the custom file naming introduced with FairUse 2.8 Fixed subtitles drifting when exporting to sub/idx while splitting to multiple parts In addition I included: - manual - DivX 6.8 codec (codec for coding only, without all the DivX crap...) - On2 VP7 Personal Edition 7.0.1.0 codec - VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2 (just copy to the FairUse catalog if you experience problems with muxing. I do not know why the creator does not integrate it but uses an old version of VDM instead) Enjoy!
Downloaded and installed. No issues, bugs or malware.
Another great posting z247!
(now if they would just write a manual for the program)

I'm looking for an alternative to Handbrake for 2-pass encoding. Thanks z247 :)

bbogart, and everyone else for that matter:
A manual is included in the DL.
It is a complete "How to rip a DVD to XviD_h264 using FairUse Wizard 2" pdf-file.
Perfect! I've always wanted to learn how to make those top quality XviD's.
Thx a million z247, you rock!

Thx for UP/L M8 ;) Have using 2.8 and it is a great tool...!!! 2.9 is there a serial??? Sorry if I have missed something.
No serial is needed. I can reupload FairUse 2.9 with some nice addons like optimized mp3 and Ogg codecs, Xvid 1.2 with VAQ (Variable Quantization), etc. if someone is interested. What do you think?

Avast gave me a mall ware warning.
I published the promised version, with extra codecs. You do not have to redownload everything, just the extra files. It is here: http://thepiratebay.ee/torrent/4728560/FairUse_Wizard_2.9_Full_Version_(__extra_codecs)
Is it multilanguage ? If yes, there is french ?
My AVG 8.5 Free detected Adware in it.
I can not install this program. I keep getting a message that says I don't have permission to install this program. How is that? This is my own laptop and noone else uses it. I can install other programs with no problem but this one is giving me problems. I also got a virus alert from AVG also. Any help would be most appreciated.
Right now, AVG is reporting Trojan alert on this file for "adware generic3.afsx". I have had fake virus alerts in connection with FairUse before, and am going to ignore the warning and will report back.
AVG repeated the warning for the file 'FU-Setup.exe' and moved it to the virus vault, so I take no chances and use another version. Is it possible that a virus can enter a torrent after it's uploaded?
Previously, XoftSpy has reported malware (rabioDK or something) in the DivX codec of the program files belonging to Fairuse. This has been reported to be harmless and can be ignored.

Well it seems that there is indeed an adware program included in FairUse by its makers but it's installed only if you agree during the installer.
No harm done otherwise.

Top program, use this to back up my DVD collection on to a Portable HDD to watch w/ my WD Media Player.
AVG 8.5 detected on open.
Adware Generic3.AFSX
Could be a false-positive + you're trusted...
I decided to give it a go... Here's what happened:
- Installed FUW2 (The Installer was detected as Adware)
- The FUW2 Updater was detected as spyware.
- I removed the Updater with AVG
- Did a Full System Scan
- No Infections
I recommend to remove the Updater after installation with anti-virus software.

Ya I got a virus from AVG :-(
ump, the developer of FairUse said this virus/adware dectection is a false alarm. It occurred in previous versions of software too. Don't bother.
Just thought I'd post this from the FU forum, written by UMP, the owner and distributor of FairUse Wizard:
Hello to all FU users. First, I'd like to apologize for the long silence, my personal life has gone quite busy lately, and I had no chance to come to this forum for months.
Furthermore, I've lost all the mails received after 08/25/06, and had hard times trying to recover what could be. That is the reason of no answers to download/payment issues. Nevertheless, every user who contacted me via PayPal's messaging system had an (hopefully) satisfying answer within days, so customer support is not dropped.
About the virus alert issue : this alert was triggered by some antivirus (AVG as far as I know, possibly more) because of the installer, not the exe itself. The issue was solved by simply rebuilding the FU installer after upgrading the installation suite (the software used to create FU's installer) to the latest version. Again, there was NO virus or trojan here, only a false positive.
